Welcome to Carpetshire Books

Carpetshire isn’t a real place — but it feels like one.

It’s the kind of world that begins under a blanket fort or at the corner of a storybook page. A soft, curious space where children can slow down, wonder, and feel at home.

I started Carpetshire Books to create more of that; through stories, letters, and thoughtful moments sent gently through the post.

Where the name comes from

My father’s village in Egypt was called “Busat” ; the Arabic word for carpet. I didn’t love it growing up. I wanted to be somewhere else. But when I finally left, I realised I hadn’t quite found “home” since.

So I stitched one together.. part memory, part imagination.

Carpetshire is a quiet tribute to where I come from and the kind of childhood I want to help create: soft, thoughtful, and full of stories.

What we make

Carpetshire Books publishes warm, wonder-filled stories for early readers and families. Some are mine, and others will come from storytellers who share our values: curiosity, care, and quiet joy.

We also send out The Carpetshire Post — a monthly subscription box for children.
Each envelope is addressed by name and packed with adventure: a new story, a small mystery, and something to hold in their hands. It’s the kind of thing they might race you to the letterbox for.

Still small, but that's on purpose

This is a slow publishing project. The kind that grows with care and intention, not noise.
Whether you’re here for a book, a letter, or just to look around — thank you. I hope you find something that feels a little like home.

With love,
